Bulletin #4
NABET-CWA and ABC, Inc. negotiators resumed talks today at 11 A.M. Pacific Time.
Over the course of the day, the NABET-CWA Negotiating Committee conducted its run through of the Union’s initial contract proposals. In the Union’s proposal package, NABET-CWA is seeking staff and daily hire improvements in over fifty different sections of the Master Agreement. Among the improvements discussed today were proposals concerning the deletion of Sideletter HH, the deletion of Sideletters DK and DV, increased contributions to both the staff and daily hire retirement plans, appropriate wage increases, and holiday compensation. Other Union proposals presented today included the restoration of retiree medical benefits.
The Union is also seeking for staff employees the continuation of many existing “no-layoff” guarantees currently in the ABC contract. For daily hire members, NABET-CWA is seeking the same improvements concerning severance, and conversion to staff employment that other networks have either proposed to or have reached agreement with the Union. The Union also presented proposals calling for the elimination of “special conditions” in San Francisco which would reinstate the full terms of the Master Agreement to members working at KGO-TV.
Talks adjourned for the day at 5 P.M. The parties will caucus separately over the weekend, and will reconvene on Monday
The Union Bargaining Committee reminds all members to ignore rumors. All official negotiation and mobilization information will be delivered on the Sector website (www.nabetcwa.org), on Local websites, hotlines, and e-mail lists. NABET-CWA and ABC proposals are now posted on www.nabetcwa.org
