Graphic Artist (WNYT-TV)

Job Overview:  This position is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, organizing, and implementing on-air graphics for daily newscasts, promotions, web, and special projects.

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Create designs for the Company's digital/web products, such as websites, materials for web publications, ads, banners, and other digital materials and products.
  • Create and design graphics that meet the business needs of the Company, which may include sales, marketing, and promotional materials, brochures, business cards, newsletters, and other business-related materials.
  • Use strong design skills towards laying out concepts in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other design software.
  • Work with other designers, web developers, social media strategists, Internet Project Coordinators, and Account Representatives to make sure that client/manager deadlines and expectations are met.
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with other departments such as news, programming, promotions, and sales. Build working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors, and the general public.


  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience working with essential elements in the Adobe Creative Suite, creating original content and motion graphics for daily newscasts.
  • Proficiency in current design and animation software, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects. Proficiency in producing HD broadcast graphics.
  • Working knowledge of broadcast graphics systems (Chyron, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of industry-standard file formats and network server systems Working knowledge of Cinema4D or other professional 3D animation software.
  • Experience creating graphics for websites, mobile applications, and print advertising is a plus
  • Experience with editing in Avid, Adobe Premiere, or other professional NLE is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines; maintaining a positive attitude in a high-stress/pressure environment. Must have good people skills; work flexibility a must.
  • Able to manage personal workload and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
