Job Overview:  This position is responsible for covering and reporting the news for the station.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare frequent traffic reports, including graphic/visual presentation.
  • Identify and confirm traffic issues throughout morning newscasts. Clear, concise, live on-camera reporting of traffic conditions. Communicate traffic issues off-air with producers and anchors. Gather details for breaking news.
  • Produce and provide live breaking news reports in studio and on location as needed.
  • Create content for digital platforms, including the news of the day, not exclusive to traffic and breaking news. Update social media platforms throughout shift with the day's news.
  • Report to work on time and work established schedule/hours. Ability to work other hours or alternate schedules as needed, as assigned by the News Director.

Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Work with time sensitive and sometimes confidential information under tight deadlines and in pressure situations. Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to manipulate computer keys and camera equipment as well as general office equipment (telephone, copier, etc.). Must be able to move quickly at times from newsroom to edit booths to studio. Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Average pushing and pulling, bending and stooping. The Company may make reasonable accommodations to facilitate the ability to perform essential job functions.


  • Strong writing and editing skills; proficient in grammar and AP Style. Experience creating digital content for public consumption.
  • Engaging and friendly on-camera and behind the scenes.
  • Knowledge of Albany-Schenectady-Troy DMA and transportation systems helpful. Experience as on-air reporter or anchor helpful, but not necessary.
  • Ability to stay focused and positive in fast paced environment.
  • 1-2 years newsroom experience preferred, but will consider strong candidates with no experience.
