IATSE Strike at Golf Channel

To: All NABET-CWA Officers and Members

Date: January 19, 2018

Subject: REVISED IATSE Strike at Golf Channel

On January 13, 2018, IATSE went on strike against the Golf Channel. The collective bargaining agreement covering these workers expired in June 2017 – some nine months ago.

The Golf Channel is owned by NBCUniversal, a division of Comcast.

NABET-CWA supports collective bargaining rights and the challenges faced by unions in most negotiating arenas – but most importantly we support the women and men struggling for fair contracts, especially those who are prepared to sacrifice wages and benefits by walking a picket line during a sanctioned strike.

Our members do not cross picket lines – and our members do not perform struck work of any kind, for any employer. Article V, Section 5.2 of our Master Agreements with NBCUniversal and ABC prohibit either Company from assigning NABET-CWA members to perform struck work, and it further prohibits the Company from taking any disciplinary action against our members who refuse to cross a picket line established as the result of an authorized strike.

Our NABET-CWA members are demonstrating their solidarity through a variety of supporting actions, as well as messaging on social media. Please continue these important gestures of solidarity and support!

If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact your NABET-CWA Local, or the Sector office in Washington, DC.
